JES was honored today with a donation to our agriculture program. Ms, Briana DeGeyter has been working hard to bring in valuable lessons for our students on the importance of sustainability and animal science. We are proud of the progress she is making and we are completely humbled that the Rotary Club noticed, too. Their donation will help bring in much needed supplies and curriculum for teaching. Thank you so much Interlachen Rotary.

Monday is just around the corner and we would love to have all of our kids wearing as much red as they can. "I am red-y to stay drug free!" is our theme for Monday. As we begin our promotion of Red Ribbon Week 2023, we want to encourage our families to talk with their children of all ages. Each conversation needs to be age appropriate. While we always promote drug free expectations in our schools, we know our children are exposed to so much. Please join us in being proactive by talking with your child. Support all the activities this week revolving around Red Ribbon Week.
"It’s Better to Talk Before Children Are Exposed to Alcohol and Other Drugs"
If you talk to your kids directly and honestly, they are more likely to respect your rules and advice about alcohol and drug use. When parents talk with their children early and often about alcohol and other drugs, they can protect their children from many of the high-risk behaviors associated with using these drugs. (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 2022).

Our first 9- weeks came with new beginnings, lessons, goal setting and more. At JES, we are proud to announce our school met the first 9-weeks goal of achieving 3000 points in Accelerated Reader. Because of this, we added a dress up day to our Red Ribbon Week. On Friday, Oct. 27th, all students and staff can dress like their favorite book character.
Please remember, no masks and of course no hoods that cover the face.
*just a reminder, we will not be wearing costumes on Oct 31.

We had our 1st 9-weeks Terrific Kid Ceremony sponsored by our fantastic Kiwanis of Palatka. This is their 30th year and we are always so very grateful for the recognition our students get.
