Congratulations to Brooklyn Davis, Ava Mishanetz, Dyana Valdez, Kendall Torsanko for completing 75 hours of tutoring as part of the R.A.I.S.E. High School Tutoring Program. Completing a minimum of 75 hours earns these students the designation from the Florida Department of Education as a New Worlds Scholar for Putnam County School District. The mission of the R.A.I.S.E. High School Tutoring program is to recruit, train and deploy eligible high school juniors and seniors who are dedicated to instilling a love of reading and improving literacy skills for K-3rd grade students. We have accomplished this mission!

St. Johns River State College will hold an Open House on its Palatka Campus Tuesday, March 11 from 3:00 – 7:00 pm.
It’s free and open to the public. Open House is a self-guided tour where guests can explore the campus at their own pace and talk with faculty regarding the A.A. Degree and 40+ other programs, including our 10 new programs! DETAILS HERE: https://sjrstate.edu/open-house
SENIORS: Local scholarships are continuing to come in. If you are planning on going to college or trade/tech school, this is a great opportunity for you to apply for some scholarships and possibly get additional financial assistance. There is a bin that says "Scholarships" right outside of Stout and Besley's office in guidance for you to look through and grab the scholarships that you wish to apply for. On Tuesday, January 28th Mrs. Brittani Phillips was honored as the Teacher of the Year and Mrs. Michelle Johnson was honored as the Support Person of the Year for Interlachen Jr-Sr High School at the Putnam County TOY and SOY banquet. We’re offering free ECG heart screenings to students in grades 7–12 through our partnership with Who We Play For. This quick, painless screening can help detect heart conditions early and save lives.

FAFSA was scheduled to open December 1st but has opened ahead of schedule! Seniors and Early Grads, please take time over the Thanksgiving Break with your families to complete your FAFSA. All students planning to enroll in Vocational School, State College, University, or Apprenticeships need to complete FAFSA to apply for $$$$$ to attend classes.

Next week is HOMECOMING week! Please join us Thursday, October 24th for the parade in downtown Interlachen and then for the Ram Rally for food and fun at the stadium immediately after the parade. The homecoming game is Friday, October 25th at 7:30pm and the dance is Saturday, October 26th at 7:00pm.

Hurricane Milton Update- 10/10/24, 5:00PM: We are grateful for those in our community who have worked to keep everyone safe during Hurricane Milton!
Friday, October 11: PCSD schools/offices are CLOSED so we may assess any possible damage to our facilities and clean up those used for shelters.
Monday, October 14: PCSD schools/offices are OPEN for a teacher planning day. Monday is a student holiday.
Tuesday, October 15: PCSD schools/offices are OPEN for all students and staff as a regular school day. The previously scheduled staff in-service day will be cancelled to provide a regular school day and make-up some of the instructional time lost due to 6 days missed for Hurricane Helene and Milton. The Florida Dept. of Education requires a certain number of hours each term for students to earn instructional credits in all grade levels. This is required of all districts even after weather events cause school closures.
We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our staff and families as we work to bring schools back to order after this unfortunate event. Thank you!
Hurricane Milton Update- 10/9/24, 10:00AM:
All PCSD schools/offices will be closed on Friday, October 11. All after-school programs/athletic activities are cancelled through Friday, October 11. Students were already out of school Monday, October 14, and Tuesday, October 15, for planning and staff development days. Therefore, at this time, staff will return Monday, October 14, and students will return Wednesday, October 16. We will update everyone as we get more information.
The following shelters are OPEN: Ochwilla Elementary (general population & pets), Jenkins Elementary (general population- no pets), Kelley Smith Elementary (special needs only), Browning-Pearce Elementary (general population- no pets), and Middleton-Burney Elementary (general population- no pets).

Due to developing information regarding Hurricane Milton and traffic concerns in Florida, we will be closing schools tomorrow, October 8th.
All PCSD employees should look for an email from supervisors regarding any staff who may be needed tomorrow to prepare for the storm and shelters.

Congratulations to our 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year Mrs. Brittani Phillips! Mrs. Phillips is our amazing middle school guidance counselor. She goes above and beyond everyday to support students academically, socially and emotionally. We just love her and we are so proud of her.
