Recently, teachers and administrators from Crescent City, Interlachen, Palatka and QI Roberts Jr-Sr High Schools, attended the AVID Summer Institute in Orlando. Attendees participated in a Community of Practice with colleagues from around the country who serve in similar roles in their respective districts. School teams and district leaders collaborated to set goals and action steps for implementing strategies for the 2022-23 school year.
Dr. Rick Surrency, Superintendent, and Holly Pickens, School Board Chair, also joined the teams for a special leadership session.
Below are a few comments from PCSD attendees:
"I absolutely loved partaking in Socratic Seminar as a leader! AVID overall was truly a great example of how to model and engage in strategies we want students to utilize."
Tammie Thornton- Assistant Principal, QI Roberts Jr-Sr High School
"Productive struggle is part of learning!"
Kortni Rogers- Teacher, QI Roberts Jr-Sr High School
"My favorite part of the training so far has been having the opportunity to collaborate with other AVID teachers from all over. I've learned so much from other teachers and from the AVID instructors."
