On Thursday, July 25th, Putnam County School District proudly attended the Florida Teacher of the Year Gala in Orlando, celebrating the achievements of educators from across the state. Ian Boze from QI Roberts Jr-Sr High was honored along with Michael Chaires, Palatka Jr-Sr High, who was also celebrated as the State of Florida Assistant Principal of the Year.
Throughout the week, current and former Teacher of the Year honorees participated in professional development through the Florida Teacher LEAD Network, an exceptional opportunity for teachers to collaborate and engage with state education leaders. Once in the network, teachers are invited each year to return and participate if they remain in a Florida district school. Representing Putnam County were Ian Boze (2025), Katrina Feola (2024), Asia Kellner (2023), and Kelli McGahey (2021).
Catelyn Boze, wife of Ian Boze and the 2019 Putnam County Teacher of the Year, also attended the Gala along with Laura France, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction; Sarajean McDaniel, Executive Director for Leadership Development; and Ashley McCool, Director of Community Relations. The Gala was a memorable celebration of Florida’s top educators and their impact on their communities.
