Employees of the Year

Q.I. Roberts had a lot of “Excellence” to celebrate and be proud of last week. Putnam County School District held their annual Recognition Ceremony to celebrate and honor the amazing teachers and support staff from across the district. Amongst the honorees, a total of five employees represented Q.I.

Q.I. was able to help celebrate employees recognized for representing the west end of Putnam County with the ESS substitute for the year being Mrs. Bessie Davis, the building substitute for Q.I.. Additionally, bus driver of the year for the west end Mrs. Lori Stanfield who transports students to and from Q.I.

Q.I. also celebrated Mrs. Maradyth “Katy” Hall as Q.I. Roberts support person of the year. Her amazing work keeps the books balanced, fundraisers moving forward, and always keeping teachers stocked with whatever supplies they need.

Another honoree of the evening was Mr. Joseph Theobold who received his plaque and recognition for being Putnam County’s Principal of the year. His work leading the school and continuing to push for excellence has led QI to being named by the U.S. News & World Report as a Best Middle and High School for the 2023-2024 school year. Moreover Q.I. under Mr. Theobold's leadership was identified in the Top 10% of schools in Florida and a Florida School of Excellence by the Florida Department of Education.

The last honoree of the evening was Mr. Ian Boze who was nominated as Q.I. Roberts Teacher of the year. Mr. Boze not only had that honor last week, but he was selected as Putnam County’s 2024 district teacher of the year. He becomes the third teacher at Q.I. Roberts who has had that honor. Mr. Matt Bergen in 2014 when he was at Browning Pearce and Mrs. Catelyn Boze in 2018. The Bozes, we believe, are Putnam's first husband and wife team to both have had the honor of district teacher of the year.

When asked what inspires him Mr. Boze spoke of community and said “My ultimate inspiration is the community that I get to have with the students, celebrating the small wins like passing their driver’s test or leading the line dances at homecoming dance. I love the fall pep rally, when our entire school gets together to simply celebrate the community we have built. Learning is an important part of education, but feeling seen, feeling important, finding belonging, finding yourself–that's what matters most. “

Mr. Boze and Mr. Theobold are now off to represent Putnam County at the state level competitions. Mr. Theobold will find out in February if he is one of the finalists and Mr. Boze will find out during teacher appreciation week in May if he is selected as a finalist.
