Putnam City Pirates. These are three words that our QI Roberts Halo esports
team knows all too well. Over the past two years, Putnam City High School in Oklahoma
has provided fierce competition. The all-time series between the two teams is in favor of
QI 3-2. Putnam City defeated QI in the Fall and Spring Final last year, while QI won two
regular season matchups and the National Championship series in May 2023. The QI
Halo esports team, which consists of Wiley Hall, Jacob Hines, Caleb Dyer, and Nathan
Bohanan welcomed the challenge once again in a Fall semifinal matchup on Tuesday
night.
This Putnam City team consists of 4 brand new members, but they are
coordinated and competitive. QI Roberts was able to pull off the 3-0 series win in a best
of five, but some of the games were very close calls. One of the games QI was trailing
43-40 and ended up making a comeback at the end to finish 50-48. QI will now look
ahead to next Tuesday, where they will look to do something they’ve never done before,
which is secure first place in a National Fall Major final. They play against the Epic
Charter Schools Comets next Tuesday night. The Comets are another Oklahoma
esports powerhouse, just like Putnam City. You can watch the stream of the final best of
7 series next Tuesday on Twitch.tv/HSELesports at 8 p.m.
