Crescent City Jr-Sr High School has kicked this year off with excitement and focus with the theme of “Our Town, Our School, Our Team, Our Family!”
Crescent City continues to be a community that rallies behind it schools and students, and on Thursday, the community of Crescent City showed up to support CCJSHS in Tallahassee at the Florida Department of Education’s convening of the Special Facility Construction Program Committee.
Thomas Bolling, Associate Superintendent for Support Services, presented to the committee sharing highlights of the project to redesign and rebuild Crescent City Jr-Sr High School. The committee then confirmed it will move ahead with three projects from which to seek funding in the upcoming legislative session. Three schools are in the process to receive funding from the following districts and ranked in this order: Glades, Gadsden, and Putnam County School Districts.
The CCJSHS project presentation was well received by all in attendance. When complete, the 7th-12th grade students of Crescent City will walk the halls of a brand-new school designed for safety with modern technology and dedicated facilities for career and technical education programs.
Violet Brown, Senior Educational Program Director from FLDOE Office of Educational Facilities, shared, “Putnam presented well in a very competitive year and has been ranked to be included in the Commissioner’s legislative budget request. We are excited for the session to begin in January to begin seeking funding for the new Crescent City Jr-Sr High School.”
Dr. Surrency shared his gratitude for those who traveled to Tallahassee to show support for the project.
