At the April 15, 2025, School Board meeting, Anahi Lugo from Crescent City Jr.-Sr. High School was recognized for receiving the Top in the USA Cambridge Learner Award for her outstanding performance on the Cambridge International AS Level Travel and Tourism exam. This prestigious honor, presented by Cambridge International Education, celebrates the talent, dedication, and commitment of both students and educators in our district.
Anahi, currently a senior, will attend Amherst College this fall. She was especially excited to take the Cambridge Travel and Tourism course during her junior year, inspired by her love of traveling with her family. Her teacher, Mr. Oscar Jaimes, incorporated a variety of in-depth case studies into the curriculum, giving students the opportunity to explore international landmarks and examine how tourism shapes economies and cultures across the globe. As part of the course, Anahi and her classmates organized events and visited tourist attractions throughout Northeast and Central Florida.
When asked to describe Anahi, Mr. Jaimes shared, “Anahi is the ideal student every teacher loves to have in class. She is kind, responsible, and respectful. The students would say she is ‘locked in,’ meaning she is focused and goal-oriented. It was a pleasure having Anahi in class because she consistently submitted quality work.”
The Cambridge Advanced program is designed to help students like Anahi develop the knowledge, understanding, and skills they need to thrive in a changing world. With a 160-year legacy as part of the University of Cambridge, Cambridge International partners with schools and districts around the globe to help make educational transformation a reality.
The Putnam County School District is proud to partner with the Cambridge program to provide meaningful learning opportunities and global pathways for students throughout our district.
