Putnam County School District passed over the ceremonial key to the community center facilities of the Robert H. Jenkins, Jr. Middle School campus. Mayor Terrill Hill shared his excitement for acquiring the facilities to establish a center for the north side community where children and adults can gather to learn and grow as a community for years to come. Plans to honor Robert H. Jenkins, Jr. and the former Central Academy within the community center are underway.
Superintendent, Dr. Rick Surrency, expressed his encouragement and support for the project. The City of Palatka will maintain the community center facilities, while the remaining portion of school campus is owned and maintained by the school district.
