Bartram Frolic

Putnam County School District second graders from across the district stepped back in time today during an unforgettable field trip to the Bartram Frolic in Downtown Palatka. This annual celebration brings the rich history and heritage of the St. Johns River to life—and our students were right in the middle of it!

From shaking hands with William Bartram himself to learning about the adventures of Long Warrior and Trader Job Wiggens, students experienced living history up close. Through storytelling, reenactments, and the popular "Passport to the Past" activity, they followed in Bartram’s 18th-century footsteps, gaining a deeper understanding of his 1774 journey through our region.

Our students had a blast—and learned a lot! Every moment was a chance to connect with our community’s natural history.

Don’t miss out! The Bartram Frolic continues this Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Downtown Palatka Riverfront. Join the fun with Pride of Palatka riverboat tours, hands-on nature exhibits, food trucks, and activities for the whole family.
