Putnam County is thrilled to announce that two outstanding students from QI Roberts Junior-Senior High School have been selected as nominees for the 2024-2025 Florida Department of Education Sunshine State Scholarship:
Aiden Stewart: Putnam County's Sunshine State Scholar
Andre Mai: Runner-Up
Each year, Florida’s school districts identify their top 11th-grade students in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM). These scholars are recognized for their exceptional academic achievements and potential to contribute to their communities and the state.
This year’s scholars will attend a two-day program in Orlando from April 10–11, 2025. The event brings together Florida’s brightest students to network with STEM professionals and higher education representatives. Highlights of the program include:
Recognition from the Commissioner of Education and other dignitaries.
Workshops on college applications, financial aid, and Florida Bright Futures Scholarships.
Networking opportunities with Florida’s College and State University System representatives.
Insightful sessions connecting students with potential STEM-related careers.
To be eligible, scholars must meet rigorous academic criteria, including maintaining a weighted GPA of 3.9 or higher, excelling in advanced coursework, and demonstrating a commitment to community service. Additionally, students participate in essay writing, interviews with STEM professionals, and STEM-related extracurricular activities to showcase their passion and dedication to these fields.
Congratulations to Aiden Stewart and Andre Mai on this significant achievement. These students represent the bright future of STEM innovation in Putnam County!
