Attendance Matters at PCSD
Let's make sure all students are HERE. Every Minute. Every Class. Every Day.
At Putnam County School District, we know every day a student is in school matters for their learning, friendships, and future success.
Missing just two days a month—even if excused—can add up and make it harder for students to keep up in class.
That’s why we’re partnering this year with EveryDay Labs to help families build strong attendance habits. Families will receive:
Personalized attendance reminders
Clear attendance reports
Tips and tools to address attendance barriers
Attendance Expectations at PCSD
All students are expected to attend school every day, on time, and for the full instructional day.
If your child is absent, please provide a written excuse within 48 hours.
Absences due to illness, medical appointments, emergencies, or other reasons approved by the principal may be excused.
Families should plan vacations and appointments outside of school hours whenever possible.
For detailed guidelines, please review our Student Code of Conduct and PCSD School Board Policy 5200: Attendance.
Tardies and Early Check-Outs
Students who arrive late or leave early miss important instruction time and can fall behind. Please help your child be at school on time every day and stay until dismissal.

Tips for families to support strong attendance:
Establish consistent bedtime and morning routines
Avoid scheduling appointments or trips during school hours whenever possible
