Registration Deadline July 31, 2009
SB 1676 is a new law that requires all Florida school districts to provide a Virtual Instruction Program (VIP) for its students. Putnam County Schools has opted to join with other district in the area to provide Putnam's VIP through The North East Florida Educational Consortium (NEFEC)
The first step toward enrolling in Putnam's VIP through NEFEC is to determine eligibility. Under the new law, a student is eligible if he/she:
• resides in Putnam County; and
• was enrolled in a Florida public school for the 08-09 school year; and
• was present in school for last year's October and February FTE counts.
OR
is the dependent child of a member of the United States Armed Forces who was transferred to Florida within the last 12 months;
OR
was enrolled in a school district virtual instruction program in 08-09 or a K-8 Virtual School Program in 08-09.
Putnam's VIP is for K-8 fulltime virtual students only. In grades 9-12, the VIP is fulltime with the exception of students who meet criteria for their district's dropout prevention program. VIP is not for students wishing to take select courses in a virtual environment. Please see your school's guidance counselor for these options.
If you think your child meets these criteria, please visit NEFEC's E-learning Network site. The enrollment window is July 1 through July 31, 2009. |
