STEP Awards Recognize "Service Above Self"

The Rotary Club of Palatka recently presented its STEP Awards.
STEP stands for Student, Teacher, Employer and Practitioner (or employee).
Allison Ray, a graduating senior from Interlachen High School, received the Student Award.
Michelle McCollough, media specialist at Mellon Elementary School, received the Teacher Award.
Nikki Hawthorne, director of Food Services for the Putnam County School District, received the Service Above Self Award for the Weekend Snack Pack Project.
Also pictured is Blythe Byrd, executive director of United Way of Putnam County, who received the Practitioner Award.
“The Rotary Club of Palatka S.T.E.P. Awards have become one of our community’s best salutes to the kind of human spirit that makes our community an excellent place to work and live,” according to Rotary. “Each of our award winners understands the value of service in their studies, their vocations or their lives.”
