Kiwanis Club of Palatka Donates to PHS Athletic Dept.
The Kiwanis Club of Palatka presented Palatka High School Athletic Director Bobby Humphries with a check for $5,200 for the school’s athletic department during the club’s Aug. 4 meeting.
The money was raised by the club’s concession stands during last season’s varsity home games, said Robin Robinson, public relations chairperson for the Kiwanis Club of Palatka.
“The Kiwanis Club of Palatka has been operating these concession stands for decades, always giving the money back to the athletic department and in scholarships to graduating seniors,” Robinson said. “This year we awarded a full two-year degree scholarship for books and tuition to St. Johns River State College with the money we earned.”
Robinson said club members would meet at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Palatka Aug. 20 for a pre-season cleanup/setup to be ready for the team’s first home football game Aug. 26.
